Join Me For A January Art Walk

A collage of images on a black background. A line drawing of a rose, a snow scene of a river with snowy banks and trees, a portrait of a woodpecker, a landscape with rainbow and a painting depicting an angel. Has the words A January Art Walk.

Join me for a January art walk but all from the comfort of your armchair! Let’s visit some of my artist colleagues’ blogs and view their art.

A January Art Walk

KM Gunn Art

A line drawing of a rose in full bloom, part of the stem and leaves.

Starting this month with Katrina Gunn at KM Gunn Art who will be making pen-and-ink contour drawings (simple line drawings) as a fun little gift for her email subscribers to print out and color for themselves. The first image she has made available is a rose. You can read Katrina’s blog here.

Jim Hughes Photography

A photograph of pileated woodpacker head and shoulders as it perches on the vertical trunck of a tree. Gorgeous red plumage on the top of the head and a stripe across the cheek, plus a black eye band with white leading down to the dark body plumage.

A beautiful woodpecker portrait features in the blog of Jim Hughes of Jim Hughes Photography I really enjoyed reading about the lengths he went to in order to capture the shot – including making a really cool bird feeder. You can read Jim’s blog here.

Siena Blue

A winter snow scene of a river with snowy banks and the skeletal trunks of tress reflected in the water

Siena Blue has a blog featuring a retrospective early winter round up of her artwork including some pretty snow scenes. One of the things I like about this blog is that it demonstrates that as an artist you never stop learning and trying to improve your technique – something I can really relate to. You can read the blog here.

Backyard Image

A beautiful landscape panoramic view of a mountainous landscape with light, shadows and part of a rainbow coming down to touch the ground.

Steve Heap at Backyard Image has written a blog post about the Waimea Canyon on the island of Kauai. Steve has captured some absolutely stunning images of what looks an idyllic place to visit, with or without a camera. You can read Steve’s blog here.

My Own Contribution

A beautiful landscape panoramic view of a mountainous landscape with light, shadows and part of a rainbow coming down to touch the ground.

My own contribution to this January Art Walk is my blog about Ben’s Angel. The story of a painting and poem based on a spiritual experience I had whilst visiting a dying friend. You can read all about it here.
