What is Love Your Pet Day?
Apparently National Love Your Pet Day is a day set aside per year to give extra attention to and pamper your pets. I am obviously doing something wrong. My pets are the center of my world every day of the year. Perhaps I could be obtuse and take the day off instead today? No, Spud says that is not a possibility. Total adoration 24/7 is the only way to go. Silly me.
Pets Are Stress Relief
The internet tells me that pets are also great stress relief. I heard Barnet Boy tell Spud to ‘get down‘, followed by ‘you are so much trouble‘ and then ‘stop it, just behave, calm down‘. I have to say BB doesn’t sound particularly relaxed to me! He was, however, very relaxed when we took the boys down to Lago Trasimeno for a nice walk in the sunshine.
Stevie Mouse was just trying to break through the door into the living room. That was pretty stressful… Perhaps someone should include us in some of this research?
How Do We Observe National Love Your Pet Day?
The internet reliably (!) informs me that we observe National Love Your Pet Day by giving our pets an extra treat, take them on long walks (did that with the boys yesterday damn) and otherwise generally spoil them. Well my lot do pretty well for treats and I think they count as thoroughly spoiled on a day to day basis. So where does that leave us in observing Love Your Pet Day? I am beginning to think this National day is not for people like us. Because for us, every day is love your pet day!
