My favourite image of 2020 differs from my usual round up of artwork from the previous year. In previous years I have talked about awards, successes, sales. And perhaps highlighted my favourite image of the year. But we all know this year has been different.
My Favourite Image of 2020
Yes I have had sales, images I have really liked but there have also been challenges. Challenges that are not unique to me but caused by COVID restrictions. I talked about some of those challenges as a fine art photographer in an earlier blog.
Face Mask Sales
This year a new product entered my art offer – face masks. I have them for sale in a couple of places, but actually my favourite mask product is from ArtofWhere (you can see a review here). These are the ones I wear myself. Commissions and sales of face masks added a whole new area to my marketing and response to customers.
So, when I came to pick my favourite image, it is no surprise that in this topsy turvy year it is not a piece of art I have for sale. It is more a statement of life that features my artwork. To be precise two face masks of my design with two plain cotton face masks between them. His and her masks on a drying rack in my bathroom. The rack is decorated, appropriately for this house, with a cat.

Funny how we now pick up our face masks automatically when we pick up our car keys. At the beginning of March it all seemed so strange. Now, not so much.
