I woke up the last couple of mornings to find we are a world of spider webs! As well as fog there are webs everywhere!
Spider Webs On The Porch
Coming out of the front door to say good morning to the cats I was stopped in my tracks by the spider webs on the porch. The first thing I noticed is my crystal spiral, that makes beautiful rainbows on the porch and in our hallway had been covered.
Walking down the steps and pausing at the cat garden I see there are even spider webs between the metal railings!
But where you really feel like we are living in a world of spider webs is out on the land. With the fog and the sunlight just starting to break through, shining on the wet webs and grassland, the effect is almost magical.
Why So Many Spider Webs?
My first thought is why so many spider webs now – second week in November? The answer is with the change of seasons and longer periods of darkness the spiders weave their webs overnight. The female spins her web, collecting insects and hoping to attract a mate, because this is actually mating season. The eggs produced as a result hatch in spring.
What makes it all the more magical is the combination of fog and emerging sunshine on the water droplets captured in the web.
