Animals posing for the camera. Some will some won’t. Here are some examples of those who did.
Animals Posing For The Camera
Geese and Ducks
One goose in particular was a complete poser! I took several shots of this greylag goose, rear view and front view and I swear it posed for me. For the shot shown here, the goose actually paused and looked at me very carefully before turning its head to one side – almost as if to say this is my best profile! I think it would make a great goose model!
These ducks were less interested in posing and more interested in arguing with each other. So much so this pair of mallards looked they were not talking to each other. So I added a bit of sparkle to their picture to rekindle that romantic feeling for them.
But the Buff Orpington Duck made me laugh. I guess the thought was that I had food but I actually had my camera in my hand as she ran toward me.
Horses
In another example of animals posing for the camera, I took a number of photos of horses as they grazed on Sussex grassland. One in particular, a chestnut with a white blaze, had been very obliging. The rear view image was used in a competition to name the piece that I ran on social media. The winning title was ‘Graceful Grazing’. Some of the entries I won’t mention here…
Then having been a complete poser for that shot, the horse decided enough was enough and it was time for some attention and came over to the fence in the hope I had a carrot or other treat. A pat on the head was the best I could do I’m afraid.
Cows
This cow came over the fence as I took photographs of her and her herd. She was gorgeous and quite happy to pose for the camera.
Dogs
Of my dogs, Spud is more of a poser than Ringo. Take the picture above of course (Purple Posing Puppy). Does he know he looks good or what?
Cats
In this image, Stevie Mouse is very clear about who is in charge and that she is having the photograph taken because that is what she wants, not because I want to. We all know who is the boss in this house and it isn’t me or Barnet Boy!
Whenever we go out we leave Stevie Mouse in charge – that should tell you everything you need to know.
Then of course finally we turn to the ultimate poser, Emmy. Emmy suffered with epilepsy and is no longer with us. But boy did she know how to turn on the charm when I had a camera in my hand.
These are just a few examples of animals posing for the camera. I don’t think the photographer, ie me, was entirely in charge!
