My Favorite Digital Abstracts

My thoughts on my favorite digital abstracts arose because of a question I was asked. Which do I prefer creating, photo art, acrylic painting or digital art? It’s a good question!

My Favorite Digital Abstracts

The answer is, of course, I enjoy all aspects of my art work. Photo Art (also known as Photo Painting) is something I specialize in. But I also enjoy painting.

When it comes to digital work I like to create abstracts. Starting with a blank canvas I often add some geometric shapes and then build on them. Here are five of my favorite digital abstracts.

Cacophony

Cacophony Throw Pillow

This one started out as a simple pattern that I kept duplicating and adding colors to. I love the bright colors on the dark background and the almost kaleidoscope effect it created. It looks great on home decor like throw pillows/scatter cushions too.

Shapes In Abstract Rioting Color

This one is another good abstract for home decor. Imagine matching wall art and a throw pillow for example. I think the test of art you want on your wall is something keeps your interest. Something that makes your eye want to keep returning and exploring. Not to mention a combination of colors that make you feel good!

Urban Sunrise

Urban Sunrise

This started life as a circle and three rectangular shapes placed carefully and each given a slightly different treatment. I finished it with a black frame that can suggest a collage or, looked at another way, looks like you are looking out of a window. The tones of this one I think are particularly satisfying.

Multicolored Experimental Headache

I often produce a series of abstracts following a similar theme. One such series is called ‘Multicolored Experimental Headache’ – which gives you an idea of the mess I managed to get in creating them. Not everything is given a wonderful, meaningful title you know! This image started again as a series of geometrical shapes placed carefully and then worked on. But my favorite one of the series is the one above, number 21. I like the swirly effect and the pastel colors though you can still see the base of the geometric shapes underneath.

The Missing Piece Of The Puzzle

The Missing Piece Of The Puzzle

My last selection is called ‘The Missing Piece Of The Puzzle’. Again, you can see the geometric influence that I used as a base for the design. But I let the colors go a bit crazy. I added the white square with just a hint of a pattern beneath to suggest that something is missing from the image. A fun, colorful piece!

So there you go, just a few of my favorite digital abstracts. Which one is your favorite?
